The Jon Levine Band definitely knows how to turn the dial both ways. The standout song featured on his Myspace, “Hot Girls”, is a party in and of itself. It’s the type of song that you listen to for the first time and have to play it back to make sure you heard it right. The verses have a basic upbeat piano feel until you get hit with a left hook. Reminiscent of the Bee Gees, the chorus makes this song anything but ordinary. Definitely street walking music. It’s a completely fun song, that’s really well composed.
Playing to our mortality issues, “Happy” is another hit waiting to break. Its just the type of song you can’t help but chant along to. The words are simple and easy to follow. It’s definitly an anthem for reckless behavior.
Don’t let the first two song reviews fool you, there is a soft side underneath that party exterior. Bringing the setting back to a slow cook, “If I Could Sing” proves that this band has the ability to bring it down with a love song.
Make sure to check them out.

I also completely agree with this review, Jon’s voice is captivating and if you have the chance to see him and his band play live they will blow you away! you can’t help but dance along and you won’t be able to take your eyes off his “piano dancing”
Looking forward to the next live show!

Jon is pure talent and emotion. He’s humbly underpinned some of the most amazing music to come out of Canada and North America for years. His own voice should’ve been on the radio for years now, in my opinion.

After reading up on Colin Monroe it seems that Canada has quite a talent pool to pull from. I had never heard of the Jon Levine band prior, so I searched them out on wikipedia to find out more. Not much on them but Jon has come a long way from the pop schlok he was pushing with that cartoon pop group he was in called Prozzäk. If you search YouTube you be rolling in the aisle. Seeing an artists roots is always a great insight as to their essence and his current offering is strides better than his past attempts at breaking through. However, the music radiates slightly disingenuine after looking at his breadth of work listed on wikipedia. Undeniable talent on the keys, and there is nothing more engaging than a talented piano man; solid tunes but something is lacking here imo.

Marco, you’re a man who likes to do his homework. Only, it wasn’t Jon who was in the cartoon band Prozzak, it was his brother Jay Levine. And if you are surfing youtube check out jon’s vid for happy – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl3SBK3J0lM
